To understand Yoga, it is important to understand three critical words in Sankhya:
Gati: Change. The nature of reality is constant change at a sub-atomic level. Yoga defines Times as क्षण “kSaNa” - a sub-atomic particle moving from its immediate position to its next position.
Sanghatana: All events in the universe are interconnected. When something changes somewhere, the whole pattern changes
Niyati: There is an underlying order in this whole process. There is order in the universe.
When you understand the full import of these three words, you would discover something powerful: All Indian languages are verb-based. Western languages are noun-based.
Take a word like “Veedu” வீடு in tamizh. The simple translation of the word is “House”. If you dig into the roots of the word, you would realize that “veedu” comes from “விட்டுச்செல்லும் இடம்” - That which you eventually leave away from is your house.
Since most of us have been corrupted by the excessive use of English, we start to treat the world as a Noun. As something that is out there. As though it is a thing that exists in reality. In English, When you use the word “God”, it definitely starts to sound like someone out there.
If you start to see the world from an Indic lens, you would realize that there is no-thing in the world. Because everything is changing, and constantly moving at a tremendously deep, profound level.
Practising Yoga is to understand this shift at a visceral level.
